    Following two decades of servant-hearted leadership, collaborative board governance, and meaningful donor relationships, Wendy excitedly accepted the opportunity to become a grantmaker as the CEO of the Herrick Foundation in early 2023. Wendy is a lifelong learner who has humbly embraced the platform and responsibility representing a grantmaking organization. Utilizing trust-based philanthropy, innovative grant partnerships, and industry best practices generously shared by other foundation leaders, the Herrick Foundation is poised to empower and support organizations that strengthen communities and help people flourish.

  • Helen Starman

    Senior Program Officer

    Helen Starman has dedicated nearly 30 years to fund development and leadership within various nonprofit organizations. Her roles have spanned social work, community volunteering, board membership, fundraising, and consultancy. In 2025, she joined the Herrick Foundation as a Senior Program Officer.

    Helen holds both a BA and an MSW from the University of Michigan and co-leads the Washtenaw Fundraising Initiative. Trained as a clinical social worker, she spent a decade working with parents and children. Her volunteer leadership on several nonprofit boards ignited her passion for resource development and prompted a career shift into fundraising. Helen enjoys building productive relationships with donors, fellow fundraisers, and community organizations to enhance philanthropic support for initiatives that improve community well-being.

  • Jennifer Amormino

    Administrative Services Manager

    Jennifer joined the Herrick Foundation in September 2023 bringing 20 years of high-level operations skills, relationship building, project and board management from the digital media, public library, and nonprofit sectors. She believes in the power of collaboration to create positive impacts that drive mission success. Jennifer is passionate about creating a welcoming and supportive space for grant partners to thrive. She looks to learn and grow in the Michigan philanthropic community and in her role with the Herrick Foundation.
